Pretty much any image you'll see in print, on your digital camera or on your computer screen is made up of pixels - small dots of colour. Often,
you'll see images referred to in pixel sizes; on this forum, for example, we like pictures a maximum of 640 pixels wide; an 8 megapixel camera might take
images 3264 pixels wide by 2448 pixels high; the computer I'm writing this on has a screen 1280 by 800 pixels in size.

Why is this important? Two reasons, really. The first...

Putting a link in your messages - for example, to another website or to an eBay auction - is pretty easy. You can link to another website, another part of
the DSG site, or another topic on the forum - in fact, anything that has its own web address. You can also shorten long links, or make a link say whatever you
want it to.
Putting a link into a post

First, a tip. This is a lot easier if you have two tabs or windows open, one with the message you're writing...

Discussion in open forums
Pretty self-evident really - the whole world can see it. Suitable for general discussions between a number of people. Open forums are not suitable for
posting personal information if you don't want it public (obviously if you're posting an advert, this probably doesn't apply, at least to phone

The internet's a great way to share information. It grew out of networks which enabled universities and scientific establishments to share information
easily. Unfortunately, that ease of sharing information means it can be easy for others to get at - perhaps others you wouldn't want getting at it.
This doesn't mean you have to fall for the tabloid shock horror stories about the net; you just have to think of it as if it's a postcard. You
