GM cancels Vauxhall - Opel sale

GM have cancelled the sale of Vauxhall and Opel to Magna, supposedly as a result of the improving economic outlook, GM's own stronger position and the EU inquiry into the German government's support for the Magna bid.

i have a pair of front springs to go on my car that ive had for years, they have a red flash of paint and a yellow flash of paint on each spring , in my youth (a long time ago!) i remember that these are codes for spring rate etc on aftermarket uprated springs , can any body tell me what the code is and what rate these springs my be and if they are lowered ?

Sadly another Vauxhall Racing Driver from the seventies has passed away. Tim Stock ran a Vauxhall Dealership at Copdock,near Ipswich on the main A12 and was a Sportpart Dealer,and raced a Vauxhall Firenza/Magnum in the Group 1 Production saloon car championship in the seventies,racing up against Gerry Marshall,Jeff Allam,Denis Thorne to name afew,in fact I have a good photo of Tim and Denis both trying to get around the Mallory Park hairpin together in their Firenzas,it did not work,one...

Group 4 stud fitting?

I'm fitting group 4 studs to my chevette and have noticed that you can't really tighten the nuts on the back of the stud once you have fitted the stud, also the studs pertrude through to the disc. What I'm thinking of doing is to get some small spacers made up to space the nut towards the disc so I can get a socket on it and then get a hole machined in the disc where the nut and studs stick out.
Anyone else have any ideas or anyone fitted group 4 studs this way?

Vauxhall / Opel sale postponed

GM have put the sale of Vauxhall and Opel off until at least November after the EU raised concerns about the legality of the sale. It seems the German offer of 4.5 bn euros support for Opel was contingent on Magna being selected as preferred bidder, which is illegal under EU rules.

Decided to use the Sportshatch to shift some stuff to the Jaguar Spares day last weekend at Stoneleigh, near Coventry.

Had MVA parked inside the hall whilst all the parts traders set up. I couldn't believe the positive comments I got from the Jag guys. Most knew exactly what it was with comments like 'that's a rare beast these days' and 'is it a tweaked 2300 then?' Even Norman Dewis (well known in Jag circles as the ace company road test manager for over 40...

HPF Rear Brake Shoes

Are the rear drum brake shoes std Hc for the hpf? cant remember but I have never changed them in 10 years!!!!!!
Also I have ebc green stuff pads on the front but brakes are juddering quite badly under firm braking, steve kirby recommended that I go up to red stuff, what are people running? Are disc's still available? forgot to ask steve

well what can i say, an excellent day at combe, never seen a working hpf before for real, and never been out in one ever, so wasnt gonna miss the chance to meet phil and GPY, gotta say phils a great bloke, the car is fantastic, going round combe for 5 or 6 laps flat out in it was a real experience, compared to a mk2 rs 2000 it feels slightly heavier, but handles really well, it never wanted to try n kick the ass out at all, i was amazed, you can defo feel the weight of the engine pulling...

Hi, Following on from another thread about axles, it was mentioned to change the PCD to ford spacing. A couple of questions, is that 100mm? And, what size wheel tyre combination will fit on a Firenza without causing problems.... and if any problems what kind? Many thanks, Daniel

I've never been that keen on fibreglass panels...... well until I lifted up my bonnet and realised quite how heavy it is! I then realised why people change some of their panels! I'm not looking for one quite yet, but was wondering how much they cost? In fact, how much are the other panels sold for as well? I've got a flat front firenza! Thanks, Daniel

yay, well after buying it last christmas, ive finally collected it and brought it back to my house, it was only 10 min away anyway, its in the garage and after having a look its not as bad as what i thought it might be, rear turrets need plates right side boot well needs attention, 1 arch, 1 wing maybe both, and bonnet hinge mounts on inner wings, rear roof needs attention and surface rust on doors bonnets etc. chassis and suspension mounts all look good, but must have better poke when i have...
