fibreglass wings...

Hi,

Quick question on fibreglass wings. Has anyone used them and if so, is strengthening required to the inner wings? I'm going to be building an SR20DET powered 360bhp Firenza, I want a fibreglass bonnet - I was pondering fibreglass wings but wasn't sure whether it would make the front end too weak? What do you think as I imagine others have put fibreglass wings on their cars?

Chevette HS and Firenza HPF wheel differences

There is sometimes confusion with owners,especially sellers on Ebay!,
not knowing if the wheels they are selling/buying are Chevette HS Vega or Firenza HP (Droopsnoot) Avons.
There are some slight differences,one being 100mm PCD and the other 4" PCD,the HPF Avon has a steel "safety band" around the inside,to prevent the tyre coming off in the event of a blowout.The Avon is also very slightly darker in colour and a wider polished rim.

Did anyone catch The Chatsworth Rallyshow and Rallyday Castle Combe on Motors TV ?.
Chatsworth wasn't that good,just a brief glimpse of a Chevette for sale in the paddock!.
Lots of Excorts though!.
Rallyday was a much better programme, although only 30 mins,they showed all 3 of the HSR's there,KFL306W,918DTV and DEB507V.Interviews with Jimmy McRae,Russell Brookes and others were good.

15 inch avons

I have sourced a company that will billet machine the avon rim patern at 15 X 8J with the 4 inch PCD hes asking how many off so I will put it out there If there reasonable how many would go for a set I know Im over the other side of the planet, but enough and it becomes real cheap talking to him again tomorrow I know just 5 of them is real exy infact scary but he actually likes the design of them MMMMMMMmmm

Having just bought a 'basket case' snoot which I intend to fully restore and having just shipped the first of many batches of components off for grit-blasting, I need some advice. If anyone know's what the original finish were on the following components were, can they please let me know?

Stub axles - Silver or black?
Hubs - Silver or black?
Calipers - Silver of Gold?
Caster rods - Silver or black?

Advice on radiator

I've found the radiator in my car is leaking. It's a 2.3 single cam in a rally car. Apparently it's a 2.3 rad and it's the core that's leaking, can anyone suggest a place for a recore or would the suggestion be to price up a new alloy one. Not sure what they cost so the latter could be a daydream!.

Does anyone know the routine for cashing in what's left of my tax disc (runs to 31/3/10) and putting the car on a SORN?

It had its last run of the year this weekend, and it seems daft to leave it taxed.

I went to the website, but it won't let me apply for a SORN, as it's apparently 'too early'.

exterior paint and panel detailing on the hpf

right in one of my pics that i posted up a while back, there is an hpf with the silver bullet next to it, in colour you can see it, the hpf has black bumpers, bullet chrome mirrors and a strange looking rear spoiler, the silver bullet has a differnet bonnet to the hpf with a naca duct in it and black door handles, did vauxhall ever intend to paint the hpf door handles and bumpers black from the start and then not bother, also why is the bonnet different on the hpf compared to the silver...

After the successful event last year, we have been given a reserved space for 8 cars. The stage is held in Somerley Park just north of Ringwood above Bournemouth. I have had to pay up front for the display area, so hopefully we can fill the space. As the member's who attended last year, it was a great day, helped by the display and parade and high speed driving of the Metro 6R4 chaps and of course the lovely weather. just bought a couple of old car magazines with really good hpf. sportshatch, silver bullet and prototype firenza models, and in one of them they have a hpf feature car, reg number KLL 348N, owned by a guy at the time in 1980 called duncan pleass it has a full webasto on it(yuhhhkk). also states chassis numbers run from dx139644 to ex157747?

the other featured cars in one article are the flat front firenza with front and rear spoilers, the black knight model, a ferrari daytona...
