well my friend came around today to have a looksie at how it was going I was just about to start on the exhaust and well here is what happened
The 1 and 4 primary and secondry are now complete and tomorrowI can actually get them on the car and at last fire this new engine up and see how it sounds THANKS ROB

Hi All

Some of you may have heard that I'm building a Can Am replica for use in the HRCR stage rally championship. I've only been on with this project since 1998 so it's a bit of a rush job. The car is not far off finished; it will hopefully get fired up by first week in December and I'm hoping to stick a few photos on here for anyone interested.

Finally got this home on Friday . . 360 miles on an A Frame . . .

I'm slowly building a bad habit of vauxhalls here but....I am in the middle of building the HSR race car and the opel coupe is all but gone and in bits hence I needed a car that was cheap, semi reliable and I could take the kids in...i ride a bike to work mostly so it didn't need to be ultra reliable.....but I found this and grabbed it....$400 NZD!!!!

I have the 2300 SOHC motor and front assembly from the chevette race car to put in it so the kids will get to school real...

Went to look at this today as I figured it was the nearest I would get to a HSR and . . . .bought it!

Mega Spec 160bhp, but of course rough round the edges . . and the arches . . and with crap skinny wheels on and stuck on Escort spats on the rear arches the look aint currently good!

After buying myself a new Mig Welder yesterday and plenty of sheet steel, I thought I'd attack the red chevette in a search for rust . . .I cleaned the car the day before and changed the wheels so it at least looks half decent. Did I find the rust I was looking for . . . oh yeah . . in a big way, some very ingenious sheets of aluminium, subtley fibre glassed in and then filled . . .very well done but also very weak. I almost considered binning the car and using the panels for the estate,...

Not a snoot but a lowly E coupe , not even got a big engine ! Going for the look and economical running costs over out and out performance - hence the term a "Sheep in wolfs clothing" . Not sure whether it belongs on this site though !

thought it was about time for an update. just put the engine back in this weekend (fired up first time, miracle!) and just need to to some odd jobs and run it in before the season starts again. now has 700lbs front spings, 350lbs rear springs, bilstiens all round, gripper lsd, volvo brake conversion, minilites with toyo r888's and a few other bits that i keep forgetting. and of course the grp 4 kit, almost missed that one out. so hopefully it should be pretty competitive on the hillclimbs...

Finally after 14 months and a small fortune on restoration, MVA passed the MOT today !

And no advisory items either! Still some other work though - front brake pad sticking when hot (they tested the brakes cold!), excessive pinking, whining axle, and the interior to be fitted (I threw a driver seat in just for the test).

At least I can properly drive it now to shake it down properly as most of the problems didn't show when static.

So we ain't far off now...

got a real shock when this was driving towards me, i'd owned it 10 years prev and sold it as a shell with boxes of bits

i know it's not a snoot but a nice little motor all the same, and yes it was a genuine cooper
