well talk about 2 steps forward then 6 steps back, ive bought a tony law exhaust manifold off lotusbits .com which came off his micra lotus rally car its a copy of the works lotus sumbeam manifold ,i had bought a standard tubular manifold off a road sunbeam but i just couldn't bring myself to use it as the quality was shocking and the tube lengths were all different so after a visit to lotusbits i came back with the tle manifold ,first i removed the exhaust side engine mount then jacked up the engine so as to be able to slide the manifold in as to be expected it didn't fit ,a bit more angle grinding cutting away the chassis strengening plate for a bit more clearence , still wont fit so i cut one of the tubes on the manifold to match the other tube which is sleaved on the 2 to 1 section this alowed easier fitting, slowly letting the engine back down it rubbed on the inner wing ,a little dressing with a hammer alowed it to be lowered a bit more but still not enough, its got to be an engine out job again , but the biggest problem is the engine mounts wont work as they fowl on the manifold the other problem is i cant lower the engine back to were it was as it'll be sat on the chassis and cross member so i will have to leen it over an inch ,wether this will affect the oil sat in the engine i don't know .also the other problem is the carbs will be leening downwards so will have to have the angle on the inlet manifold machined to compensate it (why didn't i just leave the vauxhall engine in that fitted)
