Whilst there is quite a lot about the Droop Snoot race, the Firenza SSL race details are few and far between.  There is very little in he Archives about the event.

On the subject of Firenza SSL, here's a rave from the grave.  This vehicle was in my possesion for a time during the Magard Sportpart period.  Originally built by a guy called Stuart Dytham - a fellow member of South Derbyshire Motor Club; he was connected to the Bass Brewery transport department at Burton on Trent and came up with a novel way of solving the vulnerability of the fuel tank.  A beer keg was installed in the boot above the rear axle.  A very professional installation with an endurance racing type filler system, it worked perfectly - it even had a sight gauge.

Note the inner headlamps.  they're actually KC Daylighters.  These were the first imported by Magard and at 150W were bloody bright, being based on US aircraft landing lights  The only trouble was on a straight road, oncoming traffic two miles away would start flashing as you were dazzling them!  Both lenses were separately wired with Lucas 6RA relays, but they were not up to the job and on one infamous occasion after switching the car off at the pub, the lights failed to extinguish.  The wiring along the line had welded itself together.  Things got very warm and you would definitely not stand in front of them when illuminated.  Still got a pair somewhere in the barn.......  They were perfectly legal as they were not e-marked so not liable to european regulations.

'Bet the car doesn't still exist - be amazed if it did!
