The road test time for the Can Am was 14.6 for the 400 m. But they eventually did that by just dumping the clutch and sort of tried to controll the wheelspin to an extent as I can see it. But that can look spectacular but not necessarily the best way. My brothers Can Am managed 13.6 and it had 175x13 tyres which is just hopeless. So I'm sure that as with the motor output the figures printed by road tests etc were abit lower than achievable. However the car was'nt aimed at the quartermile so that is in a way impressive for an off the floor car. The first test car the fan hit the radiator so close was the space there when it miss-fired so they took another new unprepared and not run in Can Am to do the road test.

With regards outputs I think our cars are restricted by the exhaust manifold which although maybe better than a cast iron one it all ends in a very thin section as it exits the engine bay. But I have read 325 horses which places it at more than a horsepower per cube which I think had some implications back then.

I am sure you're going get that time down by quite a substantial amount when sorted. It looks mean !
