Doe's anyone have any information on the Special Chevette called Black Magic. The web site says there is only one But I have been offered one which has been stored for quite some time and wanted to know if there is any way to tell if it was genuine or not. It was previousely owned by a guy who worked at Shepreth.

As I understand it, there was one built by Vauxhall which is, or was, in the hands of one of the DSG committe members - it was acquired at the same time as Silver Bullet and the prototype HPF.
I think Vauxhall also sold the body kits, perhaps through Magard, so the car you are being offered might well be a Chevette with a genuine Black Magic kit on it.
Any Chevette experts can feel free to correct me on this.
I was under the impression (from the DSN at the time) that these prototype cars were only supplied on the understanding that they would never be sold, so it should be still with the person who had it originally. But then, Silver Bullet (prototype turbo Sportshatch) has been sold on, so maybe not.

Magard did infact offer the 'Black Magic' kit, however the specification of the original can be sought through the club, so you will be able to determine what it is etc. The original had I beleive, some individual features which could not be bought.
Do your homework, also the price will be a good sign of what you have been offered, especially if the seller is genuine, they will tell you it is a copy, if you fire them some questions regarding its history and known features from the original. The chassis number will be the main origin of its identity, the DSG have details on these.
I used to own one of the rare HSX Chevettes, the chassis number proved this to be an early Chevette, therefore was a true HS with the 'X' added by each selected dealership.
Then again, you may see the car, and forgot everything, if the price is right the rest is up to you and be very happy that someone else has gone to the trouble to build a copy.
