I have a Club Stand booked for VVOC for this event which is billed as the North Midlands "Festival of Speed". This is its 2nd annual Event and should be an excellent week-end! Other Vauxhall clubs are welcome to join us.

AN INVITATION

The first Cholmondeley Pageant of Power was a great success and the feedback following the event from all those involved has been terrific. You can see some of the highlights on our website www.pageantofpower.com.

We would like to invite you to take a club stand at this year's event at a new trackside location next to the most demanding part of the circuit. This location affords easy access to the Paddock and other key areas.
A 10 x 20 metre pitch which has direct access to the exits, with lavatory and catering facilities nearby. Pitches will be on the trackside and direct frontage for your club will be secured on a first come first served basis. The second row of stands is immediately behind the first.

The pitch is absolutely free for up to 20 vehicles, with one free Paddock Enclosure ticket (not including firework concert) per driver with their vehicle to stand on the pitch. Additional tickets can be purchased to cover your club officials and members/guests for the weekend at the discounted price detailed attached.

We would hope that all vehicles are in place on the Friday night. For vehicles arriving on the day gates open at 8.00am and we strongly recommend you arrive in good time. Remember to bring regalia, bunting, gazebos etc. so your club stands out, to make it a successful as well as enjoyable weekend for you.

Ticket Prices (includes 10% discount until 30th April 2009):

Paddock Tickets are offered to your club at a discounted rate (until 30th April 2009) at £36.00 for the weekend or £22.50 per day for the exclusive Paddock Enclosure. Children are free if booked in advance. Please let us know numbers and we will send you the required number of car passes and tickets for you to distribute to your members.
Park Tickets are also available from £13.50 (children are free if booked in advance). These tickets do not allow access to the Paddock Enclosure.

There is an additional 10% group discount for all bookings of 10 or more booked in advance of the event.

FIREWORKS CONCERT

This year we have the additional excitement of the annual Cholmondeley Fireworks concert being held on the Saturday night. This is a "Last night of the Proms" style concert with a military theme performed by The Manchester Camerata Orchestra. Bring a picnic and chairs to enjoy this wonderful evening below the Castle. CAMPING

Camping is available within the estate grounds at £20.00 per caravan and £15.00 for a tent per night. The Friday night camping on 17th July, will be free of charge. Lavatory facilities are close by.

CHOLMONDELEY PAGEANT OF POWER BACK FOR THE SUMMER
Lord Cholmondeley has announced that the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power will be held on 18th & 19th July this year. It will be the second time the event is staged at the magnificent Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire and it will keep to the formula that proved so popular with the crowds last year. Already, many iconic racing cars, bikes, powerboats and helicopters have been booked to roar around the Parkland this July.
Event Director James Hall said that organisers were thrilled with the feedback from the first event. "The action was so spectacular, at times it was difficult to know where to look. This year, Bugatti is the chosen theme, owing to the historic connections with the marque and the Cholmondeley family. The Fifth Marquess and Marchioness were friends with Ettore Bugatti between the wars and shared a love of horses as well - the familiar Bugatti radiator is a horseshoe after all.
"One of the Marquess' favourite Bugattis was thought to have been wrecked in America over fifty years ago, but it has resurfaced in the Netherlands and Is now being restored, we hope in time to take centre stage at the Pageant."
Founder sponsors, Bentley Motors will have an enlarged display area for their historic and modern cars, including their 2003 Le Mans winning Speed 8, which Derek Bell will pilot around the new Cholmondeley circuit.

The inshore powerboats are going to make the event their Pageant of Power championships, once again drawing World Champions to compete for the Breitling Trophy.
In the air, as well as a host of military and civilian helicopters, Breitling propose to bring their spectacular Jet Team, based in France, for a close formation display.
The event is being combined with the annual Cholmondeley Fireworks Concert making this one of the North West's most spectacular family outings. As it will have a military theme with marching bands and plenty of military hardware, from helicopters to tanks, the chosen charity for the weekend festival is the Army Benevolent Fund.
This year tickets are being restricted in the popular "Paddock Enclosure" and only those bought in advance will guarantee access. Discounts are available for early booking, details of which can be found on the event's website www.pageantofpower.com. A new lower tier ticket price has been introduced for the "Park", which at the early discounted rate of £13.50 (free for Children), will make the event one of the best value days out this summer.

No Dave no plans for a stand I was going to go and have a look for next year. I had the same email back as above but didnt like the fact that it states "car's to be in place on the Friday" It read as if it was a static show simular to the NEC where once in the cars dont move to the show ends. Maybe I mis understood this ?. If we want our own Stand Shout up Quick and lets get some names and numbers down If not a joint stand with the vvoc is a great idea. Cheers westmoorsman.

Phil, just read through the invite, they would like cars there for the Friday but you can turn up for the Saturday, Sunday or both. Early start, 8am gate opening. I'd like to go, If anyone is planing to camp Saturday night I might do both days.
I've got no problem with doing a joint stand, just didn't want to see the DSG loosing any cars for a club stand if we were having one

I didn't notice that. They do just say that they "hope" all vehicles will be there from Friday, but if not they're open from 8am. I don't fancy leaving mine there over the weekend, apart from anything else it's a bit of a walk home from there.

The original idea was to have the VBOA organise the stand, then just open it to all affiliated clubs, stick all the banners across the back of the stand, that way we don't have to worry about filling the plot (last year they said a minimum of ten cars per stand). Unfortunately we can't get a response from the VBOA - Deon (VDC), Fred (VVOC, Westmoorsman) and myself have all emailed them to suggest it, and had no response, not even an acknowledgement. So Fred's gone ahead and booked it for the VVOC, but thrown it open to all related clubs.

Personally I don't think it's worth having a separate stand for this one. I'm very much in favour of having the clubs identity, but I know (as you do Phil and Dave) that it's hard for one club to commit to a full stand and as it's shaping up to be quite a prestigious event it would be nice to get in at the start. The last thing we want to do is get a stand and have it empty, and not get another chance. Of course, if there were a DSG stand I'd favour it, but without a lot of solid commitment I think it's better to join up like we do at Tatton Park. After all, the people looking around don't care what club we're in, they've just come to see the cars and the show. And the helicopters and speedboats, if it's like last year.

Now, someone needs to get in touch with whoever owns Baby Bertha and get in over there to do some timed runs. I've never heard it run in the flesh, only on video. Anyone know who to contact?

We need to co-ordinate a bit better! Phil and I talked about this and I didn't know anything about the VBOA thing. We thought it might be an alternative to Tatton for the NW meet this year, but Phil was worried about being compelled to attend the whole weekend as he says, and we ended up deciding to stick with Tatton but put this in the events list this year in case people were interested, but more for just a meet up than a stand.

Joint stand sounds like a good solution, and if it goes the way of the Festival of Speed it'd be good to get in on the ground floor. I'm definitely interested, Fred, and thanks for sorting it out.

Mike, I think Bertha's still got a blown engine.

Alas the GT is about a year or more off the road, so small car time it is.... I think it would be great to do a joint stand with as many VX classic car clubs as possible, if this show grows it will be great to get in at the start so to speak.

I have confirmed the booking for the VVOC Stand for the Pageant of Power and have firmed up on 13 cars and drivers. Just to clarify the Organisers ideally would like cars on the static displays to arrive Friday night , however cars can arrive and depart Saturday and Sunday where people cannot do the whole weekend. FREE tickets availability has now been completed (13 cars and Drivers booked). If anyone is desparate for a free ticket i still have some flexability but not beyond the 13 cars per day! If you still want to bring your car we can accept more cars on the Stand but you will have to pay for advanced tickets as below. The only advantage of booking further tickets through the club is that we can get an additional 10% discount if we can order 10 or more of the same type of ticket.
Thanks for support in this event and hopefully one of you guys will bring a DSG sign to complement our VVOC signage - We will supply a gazebo to provide a focus to the sand and heaven forbid a dry haven!

Now, someone needs to get in touch with whoever owns Baby Bertha and get in over there to do some timed runs. I've never heard it run in the flesh, only on video. Anyone know who to contact?

We need to co-ordinate a bit better! Phil and I talked about this and I didn't know anything about the VBOA thing. We thought it might be an alternative to Tatton for the NW meet this year, but Phil was worried about being compelled to attend the whole weekend as he says, and we ended up deciding to stick with Tatton but put this in the events list this year in case people were interested, but more for just a meet up than a stand. Joint stand sounds like a good solution, and if it goes the way of the Festival of Speed it'd be good to get in on the ground floor. I'm definitely interested, Fred, and thanks for sorting it out. Mike, I think Bertha's still got a blown engine.

I think it would be great to do a joint stand with as many VX classic car clubs as possible, if this show grows it will be great to get in at the start so to speak.

Posts: 9 8 April, 2009 10:13 PM	I have confirmed the booking for the VVOC Stand for the Pageant of Power and have firmed up on 13 cars and drivers. Just to clarify the Organisers ideally would like cars on the static displays to arrive Friday night , however cars can arrive and depart Saturday and Sunday where people cannot do the whole weekend. FREE tickets availability has now been completed (13 cars and Drivers booked). If anyone is desparate for a free ticket i still have some flexability but not beyond the 13 cars per day! If you still want to bring your car we can accept more cars on the Stand but you will have to pay for advanced tickets as below. The only advantage of booking further tickets through the club is that we can get an additional 10% discount if we can order 10 or more of the same type of ticket. Thanks for support in this event and hopefully one of you guys will bring a DSG sign to complement our VVOC signage - We will supply a gazebo to provide a focus to the sand and heaven forbid a dry haven!
