anyone going its the same weekend as the nec classic car show so will be hard to get the 2 events in but will try to do the nec on friday then get up early for
the treck up north for the rally ,Rob smith will be out in his hsr which seems to be getting reliable finnishing 5th oa on the trackrod and setting a 2nd
fastest time on stage 2 ,theres also 2 ascona 400s out so will break the monotony of escorts there

We'll be out marshalling on Langdale, our motor club(York) are assisting Huddersfield Motor Club to run the stage on Friday evening and saturday morning.
We usually go to Dumfries area on sunday to watch at Castle Oer and Ae Forests, not sure of any times yet.

The Roger Albert Clark Rally is just about on my door step so I'll be in Langdale forest on Saturday and possibly Fri. night if I can get away from work in
time, just hope it will be dryer than last Sunday on the Malton forest rally in Langdale...never seen rain like it !
Pleased to see the two Chevettes in the entry list this year, they will be a welcome relief to the mass of escorts, But whats happened to the Chevette of Roger Kilty? I was spectating on the trackrod rally in Sept. and the Malton Forest Rally last weekend and on both rallies he was in an escort and I see he's in an escort for the Roger Albert Rally aswell. Hope he hasnt given up on the Chevette ! does anybody know? |

He sold it and bought the Escort, it's now running as one of Lepley's cars under a different registration, something or other DTV. Jason's dropped
by here now and again, maybe he'll confirm.

I was in Gale Rigg on the Malton Forest Rally and it was the wettest day marshalling we've had for a long time, although it was quite wet on Warcup Camp on
Friday evening marshalling on the Rally of the Tests as well.
Roger Kilty lives not far from me, he used the Chevette for nearly 3 seasons but felt he wasn't getting anywhere with it, he hadn't got significantly quicker than his first outing with it on the 2006 Trackrod despite a lot of testing and trips to se Penti Arrikala and Gerry Johnstone, so he traded it in to Richard Lepley for the Escort. I spoke to him after the Malton and he said he feels much more at home in the Escort, and obviously had his best ever result finishing 3rd historic car and beating many people for the first time. As far as I know he won't be doing the Roger Albert Clark Rally this year, and Richard Lepley was going to use the Chevette himself but felt it needed 25 more bhp to be competitive so has decided to use the Porsche that he used on the Malton. The Chevette is for sale on his website and in the photos it still has its original registration number, so maybe the DTV number that was on it at Castle Combe wasn't permanent! Davidr |

Thanx for the info. Harry / David, shame he's sold the Chevette but lets hope somebody puts it to good use and rallies it again. I suppose the Chevette
HSR's development ended in the early 80's whilst the escort's development has continued in some form or other right up to present times and parts
are still readily available for them giving them an advantage over other historic rally cars, on the plus side rally cars like the Chevette certainly draw more
interest from the crowds and make historic rallying alot more interesting.
Best of luck to Rob Smith & Tony Thompson and crews on the Roger Albert Clark rally. |

Just got in after marshalling in Langdale, Rob Smith was going well and is now 6th overall as they leave Yorkshire and head up to Kielder. The weather has
been good today, dry and cool wind, but last night was horendous - 7 cars off in Langdale including David Stokes who rolled and retired.
Tony Thompson has made a steady start and is currently around 40th, but considering the conditions last night and this is his first rally for probably a year he is doing OK. We are off up to Dumfries area tomorrow, good forecast and excellent stages up there, Forest of Ae and Holehouse Hill, |

Sounds great, let's hope Rob Smith can show all those Excorts up!.
That number plate was on the Touraeg at Chatsworth too,so it probably was only on the Chevette just for Rallyday at Castle Combe! DC |

Yeh, well done to rob smith & crew on their result & for showing there is a viable alternative to the escort.
Looking forward to more of the same in the HRCR next year. |

Yep very good result for us. Rob was well chuffed at getting the car home in 5th. It ended up being a class win once the awards to the others were dished out.
Nice to speak to a couple of DSG members in service. In a bit of a rush & still sweating like a pig to get the car fixed & tyres changed I've forgotten who you were - maybe you can remind me. If anyone has got any pictures of car 11 I'd be very grateful if you could pm me? More to come from Rob - watch this space
