Hello there. Although this is I believe my first posting on the Forum, I've been a DSG member now for more years than I care to remember!
The reason for my post (and forgive me if it's in the wrong section) is an enquiry for what do you think my car's worth and whether there's any interest amongst the DSG fraternity. I've owned CXE 850N now for 26 years and although active in the eighties and nineties and fell out of use and has been stored away for some time now. In fact, I've been very lax in that it hasn't been moved or started for some time now (years :-( )
The car had a 40 thou bored engine fitted by me but bought from another DSG member way back in the early eighties with competition pistons and con rods, lightened balanced Tuftrided crank, Stage IV cylinder head with dinner plate valves, VV107 fast road/rally cam, two twin 48 Dellortos on a Mangoletsi inlet manifold with a tubular Janspeed exhaust manifold. I supect the rest of the exhaust system will be scrap by now. The cars condition (when last viewed) was still reasonable although it'll need a lot of work. The interior is original although the seats will need reuphostering/rebuilding as they were never very good. I have as spare parts, two genuine Droop Snoot front wings with the 45 degree lip which I bought off the DSG stand at Billing many moons ago, two sills, various rear wheelarch repair sections and a cast Ali rocker cover which is a rarity. The car has six Avons although the tyres will need replacing. The car is complete but should be treated as a bit of a barn find as although it's all there it'll need a lot of work and a complete resto.
I don't really want to part with the car but I don't have the time or money to do anything with it thanks to Grandchildren and the financial crisis and I could really do with the money :-( The car had a picture on the old DGS website for a while backed with a moody sky at Beachy Head in Sussex. This picture was ripped off and used on Ebay for T-shirts and Mugs complete with the cars Reg until I complained!
Anyway, thanks for reading and sorry for the War and Peace posting.
