Apologies in advance if i have entered this item in the wrong section. Just picked up my copy of this weeks Autosport and could not believe my eyes when i saw the article about Super Saloons to race again ( p81). It looks like the Classic Sports Car Club have managed to pull off a minor miracle and stage a special event for the Super Saloons (+ Thunder saloons & Modified Saloons) at Mallory Park on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29th.
Historic racer Joe Ward has seamingly already confirmed that Baby Bertha will be entered for the event.
What a fantastic oportunity to see Baby out on the race track again, i tell you it makes my knees go weak just thinking about it!
The article goes on to say that if successful; they may hold another event at Castle Combe in October.
Anyway i just thought i would share this as i am sure there are many of us here who share wonderful memories of this legendary snoot and equally many will have offspring who have never had the opportunity to see her in action.
The only sad part is of course that this legendary car wont have her legendary driver at the helm, now that really would have been a sight to behold.
I hope that Gregor would agree with me when i say that the late, great Gerry would approve of seeing the old girl back out on the track for fans old and new to enjoy.
Roll on August!
Best regards to all.
Tom
